Franny Kromminga is a multifaceted production manager & theater artist currently based in Berlin, Germany.

Franny was born and has spent most of her life in the United States, living and working in cities including Detroit, Portland, Santa Fe, and New York City, among others. She transitioned to Berlin in spring of 2025, and continues her theatrical work on an international scale.

Franny’s portfolio has always been multidisciplinary, with projects that range from performance to painting to production. Since 2020, she has increasingly fulfilled Production Management contracts, which draw expertise from her previous work experiences both onstage and backstage. In these roles, she has worked with companies and artists including Chelsea Factory, The Public Theater, Ma-Yi Theatre Company, Yara Travieso, National Black Theatre, GALLIM, Ballez Dance, Flamenco Vivo, luzAzul, YYDC, and many more. Most recently, she served as the Assistant Production Manager for SUMO, a new play by Lisa Sanaye Dring and directed by Ralph Pena, performed in February and March 2025 at The Public Theater and co-produced by Ma-Yi Theatre Company with support from La Jolla Playhouse.

At the same time, Franny continues to accept freelance work for her specialized skills, such as Fine Art Painting, Intimacy Coordination, and Acting. She enjoys painting custom portraiture commissions in oils, watercolor, and mixed-media, and is often requested to paint wedding portraits and beloved pets. As for Intimacy Coordination, she made her German/International Debut this past spring, coordinating filmed scenes for ARABELLA at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, in a revisited production originally directed by Tobias Kratzer. Her most recent acting credits are also in opera, as the “Mélisande Doppelgänger” in Pelléas et Mélisande directed by Netia Jones, and as the “Maid/Moon” in Falstaff directed by Sir David McVicar, both at the Santa Fe Opera.

Franny also uses her skills to develop passion projects, and two are currently in the works:
1. Venus Retrospectives, a surreal-ish short film about what happens when an artist comes across her own work in a museum… before she’s painted it (currently in the editing and animation process).
2. The Franifesto, an ongoing online publication and creative outlet featuring writing and other artistic media, which can be found at thefranifesto.com.

When not at work, Franny enjoys designing and knitting her own sweaters, gardening on her balcony, taking her cat on walks, exploring museums and cultural centers, traveling to new places, drinking a variety of tea, reading fantasy & historical fiction novels, playing the latest Pokemon games, and spending quality time with her husband, operatic tenor Thomas Cilluffo.
